On December 13th, 2024 I went into my OB for an ultrasound at 22 weeks & 3 days after my mucus plug came out and we unfortunately found out at that OB appointment that I was 3cm dilated. We were rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital since they take 22 weekers in the NICU. Unfortunately labor progressed very quickly and was unable to be stopped. I gave birth via Emergency Classical C-Section to Arlo at 9:04pm on 12.13.24. He was rushed to the NICU and doing amazing at only 1lb 1oz. Our strong sweet baby boy. All odds were against him in the NICU but he showed them how strong he was. Squeezing your mama & dadas fingers, we had so much hope for you son. However, he was still a tiny baby with tiny lungs. The NICU doctors told us air was beginning to fill inside Arlo’s lungs and it was due to his gestational age and very common. On December 14th, 2024 we made the decision to do a chest tube surgery to try and save our son. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful and we got to hold and love on him for the last few hours he had here on earth with us. Rocking him, kissing him & telling him how much we love him. And then Arlo took his last breath in our arms💔
All of this was due to Incompetent Cervix that I was later diagnosed with.
IC occurs in 1 in 100 pregnancies Classical C-Sections are 0.3%-1% of cesareans preformed Neonatal Loss happens to 4 in 1,000 babies each year in the US
So, Please join us in this Remembrance Walk in honor of our sweet baby boy Arlo to raise awareness💚
